Mobile shopping will soon beat online shopping in India – A KPMG report

According to a KPMG report:

"The country has been the fastest growing mobile app market in both 2014 and 2013. India contributed to 7 per cent of the global app downloads, ranking fourth behind Indonesia, China and the US, It is estimated that the mobile app download would grow six-fold by the end of this year to 9 billion apps,  the country has been the fastest growing mobile app market in both 2014 and 2013

This report is nothing but an indication about the future of online shopping. Let's look it through a simpler window, KPMG (a major market research firm of the world) has analyzed the trend of Indian online shopper behavior and has concluded that the shoppers in India are now preferring online shopping from their mobile over than that of using desktop or laptop.

As a matter of fact, India actually contribute more than 7% of app downloads throughout the globe which is actually fourth rank just behind Indonesia, China and the United States which is 'the' top app downloading country of the world. These apps helps shoppers shop from anywhere anytime. This is the reason behind major players like Flipkart and Snapdeal promoting their App. More the downloads, more the shopping chances and hence more the revenue. 

Recently even Kunal Bahl, CEO of Snapdeal.com stated that a lot of the business is derived through mobile. This ease of accessiblity will soon take over the whole spectrum of online buying and projection states that the usage of mobile will grow by 21% every year and by 2019, the mobile users accessing internet will increase up to 457 million or 45.7 crore users.

KPMG further stated : 

"With online shopping platforms seeing an impressive growth in the number of transactions executed through mobile apps, it is not surprising that major e-commerce portals are contemplating discontinuing their full-version websites altogether, to focus solely on the mobile platform,"

These mobile apps are now playing a major role in the development and reach of the discount, coupons and offers to the audience. To push more and more downloads, the companies are giving extra offers or discounts to only app users. These app are absolutely free to download and very easy to access. This may escalate into closure of sites and shopping from apps only (Myntra for example).
