Finally, Snapdeal commented on Aamir Khan’s comment of intolerance

Snapdeal has been bombarded with all the hellfire since its Brand Ambassador, Aamir Khan stated a controversial comment ” As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. When I chat with Kiran at home, she asks, should we move out of India? That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be…That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. ” Read : Snapdeal starts Receiving 1 Star Ratings After Aamir Khan’s Statement On ‘Intolerance’

Now Snapdeal has officially made an statement in its blog which says :

“Snapdeal is neither connected nor plays a role in comments made by Aamir Khan in his personal capacity. Snapdeal is a proud Indian company built by passionate young Indians focused on building an inclusive digital India. Everyday we are positively impacting thousands of small businesses and millions of consumers in India. We will continue towards our mission of creating one million successful online entrepreneurs in India.”

Now that Snapdeal has made it official that their is no relation between Snapdeal and Aamir Khan’s personal comment, Twitter is again flocked with the debate where some praise the decision and some still look dicey in accepting the trending topic. However, on my personal note (as an author), Snapdeal’s brand image is somewhat placed on a not so good place with Aamir Khan’s association with it. Snapdeal is doing an amazing work wherein it is connecting sellers to a common marketplace and therefore helping country to grow in ecommerce sector.

None than less, a company’s reputation is also at stake when an ambassador, a face to represent a company, gets into controversy. Same happened with Accenture when it had to terminate Tiger Wood’s association with itself as an Ambassador. Anyways, it is really nice to see Snapdeal putting forth its own opinion stating that it will continue towards their mission of creating one million successful online entrepreneurs in India.
